EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Are you passionate about supporting local businesses,
growing our community, and making a difference in Decatur County? We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and motivated individual to serve as our next Executive Director!
LOCATION: OBERLIN, KANSAS
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Promote economic development, business growth, and entrepreneurship throughout Decatur County.
- Assist businesses with business loan applications and community organizations with grant funding opportunities.
- Build relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and regional partners.
- Support workforce development. business recruitment, retention, and expansion.
- Plan, organize, and promote Chamber events, ribbon cuttings, and community activities.
- Recruit and maintain Chamber memberships.
- Manage social media, website updates, marketing, and community communications.
- Prepare meeting agendas, attend Board meetings, and provide organizational updates.
- Assist with community development projects and other duties as assigned.
IDEAL CADIDATE:
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working with businesses, community members, and local government.
- Self-motivated, professional, and passionate about rural community development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide administrative and customer service support
- Answer a multi-line telephone and assist the public
- Process payments and receipts
- Assist with grants, research, and data gathering
- Prepare correspondence, reports, notices, and records
- Use Microsoft 365, computers, smartphones, and other technology
- Assist with community development projects
- Conduct property inspections and address city code violations
- Communicate with property owners regarding compliance
- Maintain accurate code enforcement records and follow-up documentation
- Perform other administrative duties as needed
WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Pays close attention to detail
- Can multi-task and prioritize
- Has strong communication and customer service skills
- Is comfortable with computers and Microsoft 365
- Can learn new technology and programs

- Is willing to learn and understand City ordinances, codes, and violation procedures
Municipal or code enforcement experience is helpful, but not required. Training will be provided.

- Ability to possess a Kansas CPOST Full-Time LEO certificate

Salary and Benefits
- Starting pay: $37,500 to $62,000 D0Q
- Overtime pay after 86.67 hours worked
