Let’s get to know your Chamber board members & director. Each article I’ll focus on a board member and spotlight a Chamber business member. Without our members there would be no chamber and no chamber events. We appreciate each & every member!!
We will start with the most important and our glue that keeps our board in the know and running smoothly, our director, Sharee Dempewolf.
Sharee was born and raised in the Norcatur/Oberlin area. She graduated from DCHS in 2006. Sharee worked as a CMA/CNA and local florist for many years, before stepping into the Economic Development coordinator role in November 2022. With the Economic Development Coordinator role, Sharee inherited the chamber director. As the Economic Development Coordinator and Chamber director, she has had to learn on the run. Sharee attends seminars and has learned a lot and has met many great people who are great resources for our county. While at the seminars she has learned of new programs that would benefit our economic development. Sharee has worked hard to bring many exciting new programs into our county. Some of the programs include, but not limited to; Make My Move, Hiring incentive, Network Kansas, Kansas Commerce HAT completed, WKREDA, YEC program for DCHS and much, much more.
Sharee has written many grants for different organizations & has helped people with their grants.
Last year she has helped bring in over $225,000.00 in grant money to our communities & organizations.
For anyone that writes grants, knows this is a tedious undertaking.
Besides working in the office, Sharee is on 17 different committees. She attends many meetings, some during office hours and many after hours meetings.
In her spare time, I know, what spare time-being on so many different committees, Sharee loves to spend time with her family and friends especially her neice and 4 nephews. Sharee likes to go to the lake to unwind & fish. But only if someone else will bait her hook & take her fish off the hook. So basically she just throws the line in and reels in the fish
One of her friends said “she’s a princess fisher”

Sharee is investing & building a better tomorrow for our county & our businesses. Thank you Sharee for all your hard work & dedication. For more information on the programs, grants & etc give Sharee a call at the 785-475-3441.
